Vladimír's bookstore Serius and the PLAC association cordially invite you to the 66th lecture from the Printed Architecture cycle, on Friday, February 7, 2025, at 6:30 PM.
Michaela Hečková from the IPR publishing house will present the book The Invisible City, which is based on the legendary American podcast 99% Invisible.
The publication is an extraordinary guide to urban details and nuances that are often overlooked but significantly influence the daily functioning of cities…
Did you know that you can even catch a carp in the basements of Manhattan? That in London you can find long handrails made from war stretchers for the wounded, and in New York, you'll come across a subway vent that looks like an ordinary house? You will find all these and many more fun, educational, and slightly bizarre pieces of information in the book.
The Invisible City is a translation of the American publication The 99% Invisible City, which is based on the legendary American podcast 99% Invisible. The podcast currently has 508 episodes and has been celebrating the city for over 10 years. It introduces its listeners to the stories present in the buildings they inhabit, in the streets they drive through, and on the sidewalks they walk on. The authors of the podcast and the original publication are radio producer and host Roman Mars and digital director and producer Kurt Kohlstedt.
