In Prušánky, in the Hodonín region, they needed to reconstruct the original complex of the primary school buildings. The municipality opted for a progressive and quick solution – modular construction. The result is a temporary school that was built in just 2 months during the summer holidays on the site of the former gymnasium. It provides a full-fledged environment for teaching up to 300 students. This approach has proven to be not only quick but also architecturally functional and visually appealing.
The existing school in Prušánky faced long-term structural issues. Unstable clay subsoil caused cracks in the walls and made further safe operation of the building impossible. This condition required urgent solutions to ensure continuity of education during the planned reconstruction. The mayor of the village, Zbyněk Němeček, and his team sought an effective alternative - the construction of a new modular school in the immediate vicinity of the original building.

Speed, quality, and flexibility prevailed

A site of the former gymnasium was chosen for the temporary school, where the construction of a new sports hall is also planned. The modular system allowed for the rapid implementation of the building during the summer vacation. KOMA MODULAR supplied a total of 98 modules that create a compact whole with a functional interior layout. Aluminum windows and doors emphasize the modern aesthetics of the building.

Layout and equipment

The temporary school offers 10 standard classrooms and 6 smaller classrooms used for divided classes and specialized teaching. The space is supplemented with staff rooms, offices, a lounge, and a sufficient number of sanitary facilities. The architectural solution includes an atrium that provides natural lighting and enhances the quality of the internal environment. The room height reaches a comfortable three meters.

Technical parameters and standards

Although it is a temporary solution, the modular school fully complies with all hygiene, insulation, and fire standards. Insulation is provided using PIR panels and mineral wool, ensuring high thermal insulation and acoustic comfort. The modules meet the standards of permanent buildings, increasing their usability even after the lease period.

Mayor Němeček praises the quality of the modular building: "Prušánky has gained a school that meets all hygiene and safety requirements. It is modern, aesthetically pleasing, and has created a pleasant environment for children that can confidently compete with permanent structures in terms of quality."

Architectural flexibility for education

Modular buildings are becoming an increasingly popular solution in education. Their main advantages are speed of implementation, minimal impact on the surroundings, and the ability to adapt the building to specific needs. They allow, for instance, installation during summer breaks, thereby eliminating disruptions to school operations. At the same time, they prove to be an ideal solution not only for temporary but also for permanent use.

The project of the modular school in Prušánky represents an inspiring example of how architecture can respond to urgent community needs while offering a sustainable and quality alternative to traditional construction methods.
