The fourth year of the specialized exhibition Light in Architecture took place in the Prague exhibition hall Mánes, where visitors traditionally have the opportunity to see a showcase of lighting, professional lighting systems, and design. The company HALLA, as a leading Czech manufacturer of technical design lights, could not miss this event. At the event, it presented not only the winners of the prestigious Red Dot Award – the SANT and INDI lights – but also student designs created in collaboration with the industrial design studio at UMPRUM. In addition, it received two awards from the expert jury: the award for the SANT light and an honorable mention for the prepared exhibition.
The award-winning exhibition stand was designed by one of the members of the HALLA design team, Matúš Opálka, who is also the author of the exhibited INDI lights. They are primarily made of a special aluminum profile and LED lighting technology, which are characteristic of most HALLA lights. The INDI+ lights were supplemented with a second function – after milling a groove into the profile, a hanging system was created, into which various components such as hooks can be inserted. Thus, the light can be used as a shelf, a coat rack, or a holder, while still fulfilling its lighting function.
Visitors also had the opportunity to become acquainted with the current winner of the prestigious Red Dot Award 2015 in the Product Design category. The minimalist light SANT by Dutch designer Rob van Beek appealed to the expert jury not only for its timeless design but also for its practicality, high luminous efficacy, and the ability to change the color temperature. In fact, for its precision processing and attention to detail, SANT has also received several other awards alongside the Red Dot Award – German Design Award 2015 Special Mention and placement on the shortlist for the Lighting Design Awards 2015.
In addition to these lights, HALLA also presented novelties created in collaboration with UMPRUM students. Whether it is the OVILI series by Simona Hrušková, STEP designed by Andrea Lofflerová, or DRAMI by Lukáš Řípa. All these lights originated from a student competition and are connected by the same aluminum profile with baked powder paint, opal PMMA diffuser, LED light sources, and the possibility of pendant or surface installation.
The expert public was introduced to the supplementary services of the company. HALLA, as the first manufacturer of lights in the Czech Republic, offers more than 3,500 BIM objects available for download directly on its website. In connection with the exhibition, it was possible to consult any questions and explore practical applications in various programs.
