The Czech company HALLA, a manufacturer of designer lighting, has received another international award for its SANT light fixture, namely the Red Dot Award in the Product Design category. In addition, SANT won the prestigious German Design Award 2015 Special Mention and also made it to the shortlist of the Lighting Design Awards 2015 in the interior lighting category.
The aluminum body of the fixture stands out for its simplicity and functionality. Its minimalist design is equipped with an opal diffuser and dimmable LED sources that allow changing the color temperature as needed. The fixture can be used independently or as a continuous lighting system.
The fixture was designed by Rob van Beek, a Dutch designer and architect who has been dealing with lighting for over 20 years. During his career, he has designed several fixtures for his own projects, including the renovation of a monastery in Copenhagen. He works as a lighting designer in the Netherlands, specializing in the lighting of royal palaces. For the company HALLA, he has designed several fixtures, such as the MILA and UNDA families.
Regarding the fixture SANT, he says the following: "My main goal was to create a fixture specifically for LED technology. Many competing LED fixtures are merely repetitions of traditional fluorescent ones, where fluorescent tubes have simply been replaced by diodes. SANT utilizes 100% of the properties of LED light sources, achieving both high efficiency and the ability to create a pleasant light flow with adjustable color temperature. The great result is thanks to my collaboration with the development department of HALLA.”
HALLA has not received the Red Dot Award for the first time. In 2014, the design concept of the INDI light by Matúš Opálka succeeded in the Design Concept category. “We are really happy about both awards! It shows that collaboration with significant designers from both the domestic and international scene brings results in the form of prestigious international awards, and we firmly believe it will also build prestige across countries,” says Daniel Černý, chairman of the board of HALLA.
