An exceptional project SQUAT iD23 was born in Prague's Paris Street. As part of the reconstruction of a historic house, five carefully selected architectural studios will present their interpretations of living in the city center. The combination of a house in the Old Town, five exceptional personalities from the field of architecture, and a whole range of carefully chosen suppliers of components and interior furnishings promises a unique experience. Play at being squatters and move into one of the apartments for at least a few hours – which one will you personally like the most?
In each of the five floors, five different architectural studios created five different apartments for five different fictional families. Each apartment will surprise you with something different, but they all have one thing in common: they will offer a great interior experience with everything included. The architects were chosen to ensure representation from studios with years of experience as well as young talents, each with a different signature style. The equipment was provided by renowned suppliers: such as Stockist, Light Works, Bulb, Hager, or Monobrand. And since the interior creators had the opportunity to personally design all the equipment and realize the apartments down to the last detail, it is no surprise that two architectural studios, Radka and Jakub Valovi from OOOOX and Ivanka Kowalski, chose Berker switching elements from Hager for their apartments.
The apartment, including furniture and surfaces, was created on the first floor by designer Ivanka Kowalski, who presents a reference to Parisian interiors here. She contrasts traditional and new materials, all combined with pastel colors. A fictional family with two children lives here. Architect Radka Valová, together with her studio OOOOX, faced an apartment where only the layout was predetermined. On the second floor, she designed an apartment for a model and entrepreneur, which is full of golden lavish elements referencing a prestigious address. However, it is broken up by sharp geometric shapes and raw concrete. Both architects, Radka Valová and Ivanka Kowalski, chose porcelain rotary switches Berker Serie 1930 Porzellan by Rosenthal for their interiors, complemented by simple, discreet switches from the Berker Q.1 and Berker Q.3 series with a velvet finish.
The SQUAT iD23 project was created to offer an intense experience of space and to show that investing in a professional pays off. You can experience fully equipped and functional apartments with all your senses – smell the flowers, taste the wine, feel the materials, textures, structures, and the aroma of coffee. You will immerse yourself in the mindset of the architects, their work, and discover the advantages of a space that, while costing more money, lasts for decades. Simply things that don't work in typical showrooms and fairs. Furthermore, you will find out for yourself which space fits you best. At the same time, you will learn about the work of talented Czech and foreign designers and become acquainted with suppliers and their products, which are reliable top-tier in the industry. The project aims to contribute to the awareness of both interior design and architecture and to improve the quality of living in the Czech Republic.
This year's edition is indeed the first, but it certainly won't be the last. Every year, you will have the chance to experience a different SQUAT at a different address, with different architects, and in a different style. The apartments from this year can be occupied in many different ways. Mornings will feature workshops, while afternoons will be dedicated to guided tours. SQUAT iD 23 at Prague's Paris Street no. 205/23 will have its doors open from November 24 to December 22. You can follow information about SQUAT iD23 on Facebook and on the project's website.
