In the autumn of last year, the company PRESBETON introduced a new product at the FOR ARCH construction fair – the G-ROW urban furniture, which can be used in the usual way as individual final products (bench without backrest and with backrest, seat, bike rack, planter, trash can, dividing post with lighting) or as freely combinable assemblies. Due to the identical base module footprint of 800 × 800 mm, individual elements contained in the basic products can be interconnected and assembled into form and functionally different shapes.
This modular system provides architects and designers the opportunity to modify the final appearance according to their specific ideas. The principle of gradual "growing of form" is transferred to the morphology of the basic element, which organically emerges from a continuous concrete platform. To enhance this effect, the system is complemented by cast paving with the same surface qualities. It is produced using the same technology and from the same concrete mix. The GROW paving is also designed in the same module of 800 × 800 and a thickness of 60 mm, suitably complementing product assemblies. The entire series is conceptually based on a single basic concrete element, which is applied in various modifications as a load-bearing element of all products. The basic element is lightened by a hollow that can be equipped with LED backlighting, so all products or assemblies can be light-accentuated in a dimly lit public space.
All concrete elements of this system are frost-resistant and are treated with Protect System TOP impregnation against pollution and water penetration.
The author of these extraordinary concrete elements is NEXT Level Studio in collaboration with PRESBETON.
