Fresh winds from the Thames have blown into the Czech basin: meet Buster + Punch

But above all, nonconformist and cool. Meet the young and ambitious interior design brand Buster + Punch. A brand that is everything but conventional, predictable, or boring. Lighting, controls, or door hardware elevate their clean shapes and high-quality materials to standout pieces in any interior.

It started like a fairy tale. Once upon a time, in the eastern part of London, architect and industrial designer Massimo Buster Minale was customizing motorcycles in a garage exactly according to customer wishes. While working with noble machines, Massimo’s love for metal ignited. Thus, alongside motorcycles, original lighting fixtures, handles, knobs, and other larger or smaller essentials began to emerge in the same garage in 2013—everyday items without which no interior can do. That was when and how the brand Buster + Punch was born. The journey from a garage to global exhibitions and into the hearts of architects around the world was swift. Fresh ideas, honest craftsmanship, and the use of quality materials proved to be an excellent choice.

Massimo's creations are inspired by London fashion, music, and a diverse subcultural scene. His collaboration with street artists, mechanics creating original motorcycles, and fashion designers bears fruit. All these influences that he allows to affect him bring new stimuli, open eyes, and compel the industrial designer to step out of his comfort zone, searching for new methods and original solutions. Massimo himself says: "In short, my mission is to resurrect forgotten accessories and everyday necessities that are part of our homes and make them unforgettable."

The latest collection bearing the Buster + Punch signature is named LINEAR. It consists of a series of door hardware, handles, and knobs. These elegant cabinet handles made from rare solid metals do not disguise their inspiration from forged and wrought jewelry and fashion accessories. The precise processing and perfect lines are even assisted by diamond milling. The result is perfect metal interior accessories with an unmistakable characteristic linear pattern of grooves.

“I fell in love with the Buster + Punch brand at first sight,” smiles Katrin Grund, founder and owner of the design store MONOBRAND, who discovered this hidden London gem for the Czech market and is now its exclusive distributor in the country. “The idea is brilliantly simple: handles, knobs, hardware, and lighting are things we all need at home. So why not let them shine? Why should they be considered just Cinderellas? And indeed, these seemingly subtle details, if polished and coordinated with the interior, interestingly designed and made from quality materials, can make a surprisingly significant impact on the overall impression of the interior! My favorite pieces especially include the hardware. Soon, Buster + Punch will even introduce their own kitchen fixtures, bathroom faucets, and accessories. I am looking forward to that,” Katrin Grund unveils the brand’s ambitious future plans.

Thanks to Katrin Grund, people in the Czech Republic can also encounter Massimo's pieces. “We already have several beautiful realizations. I would like to highlight, for example, the Maximilian Hotel in Prague—this historical gem originally designed by architect Eva Jiřičná was recently renovated by the architectural firm Conran and Partners. Furthermore, with architect Radka Valová from the OOOOX studio, we selected Buster + Punch accessories for the unique interior of an apartment on Prague's Pařížská Street. Lastly, I’m very proud to have had the opportunity to participate in the furnishing of the first showroom, or Atelier, of the Czech manufacturer of unique lighting BOMMA. The unique space designed by Italian designer Sophie Wannenes and Václav Mlynář is complemented by Buster + Punch accessories and hardware,” concludes Katrin Grund.
