Precision craftsmanship, handmade in Belgium, nearly 80 years of experience in the field, and design prioritized above all. The pieces that leave the Quincalux manufactory will leave such a strong impression on you that you will never look at door handles, locks, and fittings with the same – and perhaps previously somewhat indifferent – eyes.

As soon as you take a handle, door knob, or any other Quincalux product in your hands, you will recognize even with your eyes closed that you are holding a truly honest piece of metal. Brass, aluminum, nickel, bronze… raw metal rods flow daily into the workshops in the Belgian town of Wevelgem, only to emerge on the other side as unique pieces on a mission to enhance and embellish interiors of all kinds. Each part – whether traditionally turned, milled hot, or cast in a sand mold – is perfectly conceived and meticulously crafted with care and a passion for craftsmanship. In the Quincalux workshops, people literally shake hands with the most modern robots. Here, tradition and human skills passed down from generation to generation literally intertwine with innovations and the latest manufacturing techniques. When it comes to precision processing, robots are unrivaled. But anyone who wants to create truly unique pieces that speak to customers with their personality cannot do without skilled and loving human hands, which are the ones that can truly imbue a product with a soul. That’s why in the Quincalux workshops, you will still find next to the most advanced robotic workstations, nearly museum-quality old but good metalworking machines, grinders, files, and other traditional helpers that, in perfect harmony with their human partners, give rise to these honest handcrafted products.

The journey of every handle, rosette, or metal knob from Quincalux doesn’t start in the workshop. It is born much earlier, in the minds of design masters in their field. Although Quincalux has its own development team led by creative director Frederik Delbart, world-renowned designers, architects, and interior designers are always invited to collaborate on the development of new products. Each collection thus bears the specific handwriting of its author, who contributed to its design alongside the in-house creative team of Quincalux. In the portfolio, you will find not only ultra-modern collections full of surprising shapes, unconventional details, and imaginative finishes, but also traditional product lines that mostly include classic, shape-neutral, and time-tested products. However, in the Quincalux workshops, pieces that appear very antique are still being created, which nowadays very few can produce using traditional craftsmanship! Therefore, you will find Quincalux door handles and fittings not only in luxurious modern interiors but also as a popular choice for careful renovations of historical, often architecturally protected buildings, most commonly castles and noble residences.

The owners of the family business Quincalux are immensely proud that 99% of all production is made directly in the factory in Wevelgem. In 2014, they received the prestigious label "Handmade in Belgium," which is an award for their way of working and proof of the artisanal, almost manufacturing character of production at Quincalux. Current owner Lorenzo Desschans, who has represented the third generation of the Desschans family at the helm of the company since the mid-1990s, warmly invites all interested parties and visitors to visit his factory! Perhaps an interesting tip for you during one of your future trips to Belgium. Until then, at least follow Quincalux on Instagram and other social networks, admire the beauty of their products, or take a look behind the scenes of intriguing production processes. Or come personally meet the cool beauty and honest craftsmanship of Quincalux metal products at the MONOBRAND showroom in Prague’s Karlín! Mrs. Katrin Grund, founder and owner of the MONOBRAND design store, discovered this Belgian gem for the Czech market and supplies Quincalux products to exclusive interiors. "I am always delighted when I come across a manufactory with a philosophy like that of Quincalux. Designing and manufacturing interior accessories in close collaboration with design stars and with respect for material and craftsmanship. Such a piece rightfully becomes a great addition or the proverbial cherry on top in any quality interior," concludes Katrin Grund.
