Impressive artistic work… that you must see! HAARETZ

This creative and justly awarded tribute sheds bright light on the life of German Jewish expressionist architect Erich Mendelsohn. Visionary Mendelsohn, a contemporary of Walter Gropius and Mies van der Rohe, created works that influenced generations of architects. The story is based on letters with a young beautiful woman, Louisa, who became his wife. Director Duki Dror breathes life into the correspondence of two passionate artists who supported each other in turbulent and moving times. Mendelsohn's career followed a trajectory similar to many Jewish emigrants fleeing from Nazism; he worked in England, Israel, and ultimately in the USA. Mendelsohn’s drawings pulsate with energy, and his buildings are stunning. One of his first structures, the Einstein Tower, is among the most important examples of modern architecture. Dror skillfully juxtaposes the original architect's sketches with contemporary footage, as seen by architects and people who utilize these unique buildings today – as a testimony to Mendelsohn’s integrity and the timelessness of his visionary designs.
