Generation R. and other Hager switches at the Designblok exhibition

Can an ordinary switch evoke emotions? The ordinary one probably can't. But there are switches that can. Meet Generation R. – the latest series of switches that Hager will present at the 17th edition of the Designblok fair. This year's Designblok will take place from October 22 to 27 at the Industrial Palace in Prague's Holešovice. You can find Hager's booth under number P.31.

“Switches and sockets today serve not only as functional elements but also as crucial details that connect the overall concept of the building and enhance the final impression of the interior,” explains Thomas Grund, general manager of Hager Electro in the Czech Republic. “Generation R switches are characterized by simple, clean shapes and lines. Visitors had the first opportunity to get up close with the Generation R switches in Germany at the Light & Building exhibition. And not only to see them but also to feel them literally on their own skin. The interest was indeed high, the reactions surprising, and the result? According to visitors, the biggest favorites among the showcased materials were oak, leather, slate, concrete, and two acrylic shades of red and orange. “Wood, slate, or concrete simply feel completely different to the touch,” says creative director Thomas Biswanger, who contributed to the selection of materials for Generation R. “And this impression can be enhanced or altered over the years that the switch is used. Take leather, for example; as a material, it doesn’t age, it only changes and transforms. A quality leather armchair gains patina over time, becoming unique and unmistakable. Just like the Generation R switches.”
