Prague – The General Assembly of the Czech Chamber of Architects (ČKA) confirmed Jan Kasl in his role as Chairman, Markéta Žáček Zdebská as the First Vice Chairman, and Petr Lešek as the Second Vice Chairman. The ČKA identified the protection of public interest, support for architectural competitions, and improvement of conditions for practicing the architectural profession as its priorities. The General Assembly took place on Saturday, April 26, as reported in a press release by the chamber's spokesperson Barbora Sedlářová.

According to her, the resolution of the authorized architects' chamber highlighted the need to strengthen the quality of the built environment and care for the landscape as a matter of public interest, support for architectural competitions, and communication with public administration.

"We want to fulfill the basic goal set by Act No. 360/1992 (authorization act), which is to care for quality architecture, the built environment, and the landscape. This task is also given to us by the updated Policy for Architecture and Construction Culture and our responsible approach to the profession,” said Kasl.

The ČKA is to participate in the drafting of the bill on Building Information Modeling (BIM) and also strive for meaningful conditions for heritage care, to take qualitative conditions into account when setting subsidies, for a comprehensive approach to building renovation, and for the creation of standard contracts for public procurers.

Since Saturday, the chamber's board has had several new members. According to Sedlářová, the General Assembly elected Karolína Kripnerová, Petr Hornát, and Viktor Odstrčilík to the board. In addition to Vice Chairpersons Žáček Zdebská and Lešek, Štěpánka Endrle, Pavel Martinek, David Mateásko, Ondřej Remeš, Ondřej Rys, and according to the chamber's website, also Stanislav Žerava continue their roles.

Václav Zůna has become a new member of the supervisory board. The supervisory board also includes Michal Hadlač, Miroslav Holubec, Jana Janíková, Martina Kameníková, Mirko Lev, Josef Patrný, Vít Podráský, and Ondřej Tuček. The ČKA also has its own Council of the Profession, led by Milan Kopeček.

Former Prague Mayor Kasl has served as Chairman of the ČKA since April 2019. He was significantly involved last year in issues related to the digitalization of the building process, highlighting problems associated with the launch of the Builder's Portal and the Building Code Information System. During negotiations with representatives of the Ministry for Regional Development, according to the spokesperson, he urged collaboration with the professional public. Since 1977, he has practiced as an architect, leading the JK Architects studio. He was the Mayor of Prague from 1998 to 2002.
