Přerov - The city of Přerov today presented its new unified visual style. Its central theme is connection, stated the city hall spokesperson Lenka Chalupová today. The authors of the new visual style are designers Tereza Drábková, Katarína Jamrišková, and Ivana Stránská. Their design succeeded in the design competition. Přerov has so far lacked a cohesive visual system, using elements like the city coat of arms with towers and a bison's head or flag.

"I consider the new visual style to be very successful. It is based on the character of the city of Přerov, working with friendly typography, pictograms, and color schemes. The concept of connection and identity was designed by a trio of designers as part of a competition organized for the city by Czechdesign," said Mayor Petr Vrána (ANO).

The main motif is connection or link. "It is very playful even for us creatives. There is always something to come up with that connects Přerov. History and present. Both banks of the Bečva. Fans and athletes. Performers and listeners. All generations. Bison and Bisonice," said the city's marketer Jana Pivodová. The word "connection" will also be reflected in the city's monthly newsletter, which will change its name from the Přerov Lists to the Přerov Connector starting in April.

A new wordplay also appeared on the shared bikes. "The bikes hit the streets not only in new colors but also with inscriptions. One fender says 'Přerov connects', and the other 'Share a bike, share a city.' The new visual style of the city works with the slogan 'Přerov connects', and the shared bikes reflect this idea excellently – they connect people, places, and the way we move around the city," said Deputy Mayor Tomáš Navrátil (ANO).

The theme of connection is also reflected in the logo by linking the letters "e" and "r" in the name of the city Přerov. "The connection is then projected into other graphic elements through lines of various shapes and lengths. The decorative flourish of the letter P can remind one of a bison horn, a symbol of the city. The crossing of the stem and this flourish suggests an intersection and refers to Přerov as a transport artery. The logo and overall identity also reflects the motif of a dynamic swing found in music and sports," said the authors of the design.

The city decided to create the visual style last spring. "We were not just looking for a mere logo but a whole graphically thoughtful system that will be reflected in everyday life, and I think we succeeded," said the mayor. The primary colors are brick and beige. "The complementary colors of the palette loosely correspond to the colors found in the historical center – these include dark blue, light blue, and pink," said Pivodová.

The new style will be evident in the communication of the office and the presentation of contributing organizations. The city paid 297,000 crowns for the design competition, and the winning team received a reward of 550,000 crowns.
