The Building of the Year in the Hradec Králové Region is the Hnědý vrch Apartments in the Krkonoš Mountains

Hradec Králové – The Building of the Year in the Hradec Králové Region has been awarded to the Hnědý vrch Apartments in Pec pod Sněžkou in the Krkonošsko Mountains this year. The restoration of the so-called Polish bridges on the road between Vrchlabí and Špindlerův Mlýn also received an award. In this year's 22nd edition of the competition, the jury evaluated 13 buildings.

"I am pleased that among the awarded are also private investments, whether in sports facilities or the reconstruction of accommodation capacities, as this also contributes to the development of our region," said Governor Petr Koleta (ANO).

The reconstruction of the former mountain hotel from the 1980s into an apartment building is located on a third of the Hnědý vrch ski slope in Pec pod Sněžkou. The concept of the original hotel, featuring three architecturally dominant residential towers with a common base, has been preserved. According to the jury, it represents the valorizations and new use of an unused building with respect for the location.

The Hnědý vrch Apartments also received an award in the national competition Building of the Year 2025 for exceptionally sensitive regeneration of the building in the area of the Krkonošsko National Park.

The committee in the Other Buildings category recognized the reconstruction of three bridges on the only access road to Špindlerův Mlýn, which was successfully completed in a single construction season. "The new reinforced concrete bridges contribute to higher safety and smoothness of traffic," stated Lechmann.

In the Ground Buildings category, the committee awarded an honorable mention to the construction of the Funeral Hall in Dolní Radechová in the Náchod region, which was built near the demolished original hall. The construction also includes a small restroom and storage space.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade recognized the Jadrná Cableway. Its construction was very demanding under the conditions of the Orlické Mountains, and the committee also took into account the contribution of the construction to tourism and employment in the region.

The jury's special prize was awarded to the Sodovkárna Gallery in Hradec Králové. The new multifunctional building was created on the site of the former soda factory. It now offers space for a collection of vintage cars and gatherings. The jury appreciated the use of brownfield and undeveloped space in the industrial zone, representatives of the region stated.
