In Nové Město nad Metují, the construction of an outdoor swimming pool begins for 92 million CZK

Nové Město nad Metují - An outdoor swimming pool with facilities will be built in Nové Město nad Metují in the Náchod region at the site of the former municipal swimming pool. The Summer Area Metuje (LAM) will cost 92.25 million crowns. The construction work will be carried out by the company STYLBAU, which will officially take over the construction site on Friday. It is expected to be completed next year, spokesperson Dita Francová informed ČTK today.

The investor is the municipality, and the region has provided a grant of 11.8 million crowns for the construction. The city will apply for further grant support from the region and the state next year.

"The city is starting the construction of the LAM project. The area will be created in an attractive location by the river Metuje, where the original municipal swimming pool historically existed. However, it has remained unused for many years and is in very poor condition. After twenty years of public discussions about the possibility of re-establishing swimming for the residents of the city, this plan is finally becoming a reality," Francová stated.

The Summer Area Metuje will offer a natural bathing zone with a paddling pool and a swimming section, grassy areas for sports and relaxation, changing rooms, refreshments, sanitary facilities, and additional equipment. "The completion of construction and the opening of the area to the public is planned for the beginning of the summer season in 2026," the spokesperson communicated.

The project also includes the construction of an operational building with refreshments and sanitary facilities, all paved areas, and two parking lots. The builders will prepare a place for a future children's playground with water features. The investment also includes landscaping in the swimming pool area and improvements to the access road, the municipality stated.
