Jihlava – The Vysočina Region wants to build a new building for a retirement home on Kubešova Street with approximately 160 beds. Seniors currently live in a building from the 1930s, which is outdated and no longer meets service requirements. It has 64 places. The project, which according to the study will cost nearly 700 million crowns, was approved by the regional council today. This was stated to journalists by Governor Martin Kukla (ANO).
The project documentation, which the region will have prepared, will cost around 28 million crowns. "If we are optimistic, we could start building in a year and a half," said the governor. The construction of the complex will be divided into two phases. First, builders will construct one wing of the building, where clients from the original house will move, and then the second wing will be added. There should also be a community center. After reconstruction, the complex should include, for example, a kindergarten, a day care center, and a café.
The Třebíč retirement home established by the region is located at two addresses, totaling 172 places. "We constantly have a surplus of demand," said Director Kamila Krupičková regarding the interest in placements.
The retirement home on Koutkova Street has 108 beds. A smaller portion of them operates as a residential home with a special regime for people with dementia. According to the home's website, this building was constructed in the 1990s and has been in operation since December 1999.
The regional development plan concerns the area between Kubešova, Demlova, and Zahradníčkova streets in the Horka - Domky part of the city. In the past, there was also a poorhouse and a war hospital there. The building currently serving seniors has been renovated several times. It contains single and double rooms that do not have their own sanitary facilities and do not meet the requirements for minimum size, making it difficult to manage clients. This follows from the materials discussed by the regional councilors.
In Vysočina, there are about 1,350 beds for people with dementia in 23 homes with a special regime that are part of the regional social services network. There are 25 retirement homes in the regional network, with a total of 2,055 places.
