Náchod - On the outskirts of Náchod in the district of Běloves, the renovation of the spa complex of the Great Spas continues. The restoration of the historic colonnade IDA, which began last February, will be completed this summer. This spring, the renewal of the spa park will commence. This was announced today by the city hall spokesperson, Nina Adlof. Most of the costs for both projects will be covered by European grants.
"The construction of the colonnade is in the phase of finalizing the rough construction and internal installations. The cost of the construction is over 24.3 million crowns including VAT. Approximately eight million has been invested so far. The handover of the building is expected in mid-May, and we anticipate the start of operations after the approval, which is planned for August of this year," Adlof told ČTK.
The builders have already secured the structure of the original building, constructed the outer walls, ceiling structures, partitions, installations, laid underfloor heating, and some windows and doors are also completed. Currently, they are working on the roof, laying tiles in the interiors, applying plaster, and installing air conditioning. "The installation of the mineral water fountain and work on the exhibition have begun," the spokesperson said. The roof and plumbing elements, interiors, technologies, facade, and landscaping around the building still need to be completed.
The amount of the grant for the city from the EU accounts for 80 percent of the eligible costs. Five percent is received by Náchod from the state budget.
The renovation of the 2.7-hectare park near the colonnade is expected to start in April. "We anticipate completing this project within 22 months of handing over the construction site, with completion expected by February 2028," Adlof told ČTK.
The park renovation project includes new sidewalks and paths, water features, engineering networks, and landscaping adjustments, as well as the construction of a pavilion and a promenade along the Metuje River. The park will be accessible. The cost of the construction work is nearly 72.3 million crowns. This project is supported by the IROP program. The European grant will cover 85 percent of the expenses, with the remainder financed by the city. "We received a grant from the Hradec Králové Region for part of the furnishings amounting to 250,000 crowns," the city spokesperson noted.
Both projects are another step by the city hall of the twenty-thousand-strong Náchod towards the renewal of spa activities. The spa complex in Běloves has two parts, the Small Spa on the right bank of the Metuje and the Great Spa on the left bank. Over the past ten years, the city has invested 190 million crowns into the restoration of the spa industry, including the reconstruction of buildings, construction, purchase of properties, sources of mineral water, and project documentation. This amount does not include the costs for the colonnade and park.
The next step will be the renewal of the spa building Helena, in which the first balneotherapy operation and medical facilities are expected to be established. "This year we will begin preparation of project documentation, building permits, and selection of a contractor," Adlof stated. This building will be followed by another treatment complex, including parking for guests and patients. The dilapidated Helena house is located in the Great Spa near the colonnade. Both buildings are the last remaining from the original spa.
