Kostelec nad Černými lesy

Prague – Today, in Prague, representatives of the brewery in Kostelec nad Černými lesy received the Patrimonium pro futuro award from the National Heritage Institute (NPÚ) for the preservation of a monument. They also took home the public award "Monuments Thank You." The brewery complex near Prague represents an exceptionally well-preserved collection of industrial architecture with unique technology from the First Republic period. The NPÚ awards ceremony took place at the Hybernia Theatre.

Thanks to the efforts of private owners, the impending demise of the brewery has been averted, the institute reminded. Today, it serves as a museum and a place for the live presentation of traditional brewing craft as well as a cultural center.

"Every awarded project demonstrates that expert work, collaboration with communities, and openness to the public are key to keeping our heritage alive," said NPÚ General Director Naděžda Goryczková.

The Patrimonium pro futuro award for exemplary management of a monument was received by Marie Milichovská and Vlastislav Tvrdík for their care of the glassworks Huť Jakub in Tasic, established in 1796, located in the Havlíčkův Brod region. The complex, which was declared a national cultural monument in 2014, preserves the entire technological process of glass production.

The restoration of the wall paintings in the main hall of Zdislavice Castle in the Kroměříž region won in the category Restoration of a Monument. In 2013, a significant part of the ceiling painting collapsed in the grand hall of the castle. After the castle was taken over by a new owner, a technically demanding restoration began, which managed to save not only this painting but also the other decorations of the hall.

The NPÚ General Director's Award, which is given across all categories, was awarded to the restoration of the garden and orangery at Dobříš Castle in the Příbram region, which completed more than twenty years of revitalization of the baroque castle garden.

The winner in the category of Restoration of a Monument was the restoration of a highway bridge near Vojslavice in the Pelhřimov region. According to the jury, the Directorate of Roads and Highways, which manages the bridge, successfully restored the structure with respect for its authenticity and architectural values.

In the category of Presentation and Popularization, the exhibition MY LOMY: sandstone landscape in the hands of stone masons was awarded. The exhibition at the Regional Museum in Ústí nad Labem presented the results of interdisciplinary research focused on the history and heritage of stone mining in the Elbe Sandstones and the Czech Switzerland National Park.

As an honorary mention, the jury posthumously declared Vlastislav Ouroda (1967–2024) as a personality of heritage care, who significantly contributed to the protection of cultural heritage in the Czech Republic. He advocated for raising the professional standards of heritage care and for the restoration of legislation in this area.

The discovery of the year is the pre-locational settlement of Třebíč, where archaeological research between 2021 and 2024 uncovered previously unknown settlements from the 12th and 13th centuries. Although similar settlements were assumed in the city core, their extent and age were surprising.

The Patrimonium pro futuro award, announced by the NPÚ as a contributory organization of the Ministry of Culture, evaluates positive and successful initiatives in heritage care completed in the previous year. It has been announced since 2014.
