Jihlava - The Vysočina Region will pay for the change in the zoning plan of Jihlava so that a higher parking garage can be built at the regional hospital. The region needs more parking spaces for cars in the hospital complex. This was stated today by the governor of Vysočina, Martin Kukla (ANO). The parking garage is already under construction. After the project change, it will have three more floors, which means it will accommodate 704 cars. The original capacity was 431 cars.

The costs for the change in the zoning plan, which currently does not allow the construction to be higher than 18 meters, will be almost half a million crowns, according to Kukla. The estimated increase in construction costs is 170 million crowns. The design documentation will cost over two million crowns.

The region began addressing the increase in parking capacities due to the approved expansion of the Social Services Center of the Vysočina Region near the hospital. The region chose to solve parking by increasing the parking garage as the most effective solution.

The construction of the parking garage, associated with the construction of the rehabilitation, follow-up, and geriatric care pavilion, began in the summer. The total costs are over 1.6 billion crowns. According to the original plans, the parking garage was to be completed next autumn. By then, according to the governor, it will be clear when work on its expansion will begin, and whether the original contractor will be doing the work.

The parking garage was initially designed as a building with one underground and four above-ground floors. The extension will include two more floors and a roof on which cars will also be parked.

The parking garage will be located in the area where the old infectious pavilion used to stand, which had already served for parking. The new pavilion will be near it. The new buildings will be connected to the existing hospital buildings by corridors.

The Jihlava hospital is one of five hospitals established by the Vysočina Region. It admits about 23,000 people annually and has over half a million outpatient visits per year. This is according to annual reports.
