Biography
Ricardo Merrill Scofidio came from a musical family. He studied at Cooper Union and earned a bachelor's degree from Columbia University in 1960. Since 1965, he taught at Cooper Union in New York. Together with his student and later life partner, he founded the interdisciplinary architectural studio Diller+Scofidio (Diller Scofidio + Renfro) in New York in 1979, which, in addition to architectural creation, intensively engages in projects in the field of theater and fine arts. In their work, they address the relationship between real and mediated experience, and the physical aspects of contemporary human existence in relation to private and public space.
