House in Radotín

House in Radotín
The family house is situated on a plateau above Radotín with a view across the Vltava and Berounka valleys. The area plan for the given locality imposed regulations in the form of a gentle roof slope and the size of the floor areas. The concept of the house is based on the gentle slope of the land towards the south and access from the north.
The building is optically divided into three parts. The central part, where the staircase and hall are located, is covered with a flat roof, while the peripheral parts are covered with sloping roofs inclined against each other. The layout solution was designed with regard to orientation, connection to the garden, and views. The ground floor features a living space with a hall, kitchen, and office that are oriented towards the south. To the north, in the entrance area, the technical rooms and entrance to the house are positioned two steps higher. In the attic, there are three rooms, a bathroom, and a dressing room.
Since the investor is a professional glazier, many elements were addressed with glass, and the details were designed in cooperation with the ACERA glazing company. The highlight of the comfortable collaboration was the investor's idea to create a wine cellar in the dining room, accessible through an opening glass floor via a glazed staircase.
The structural solution of the house is a brick system made of ceramic blocks with reinforced concrete ceilings and iron beams supporting the roof covering. Most of the facades use a contact insulation system with plaster. The central part is clad in noble cedar wood, and the sunshade on the southern facade is covered with pre-weathered titanium-zinc sheet metal. The upper terrace features terrace boards made of tropical wood in combination with pebbles.
