Dear members of the civic association Za krásnou Olomouc, its supporters, and other engaged individuals, we are reaching out to you with a call to participate in the inaugural year of the Rudolf Eitelberger Award, which the association Za krásnou Olomouc (hereinafter referred to as the Association) plans to grant for the first time this year. The full name of this symbolic award indicates that its aim is to draw attention to those interventions in the organism of historical Olomouc that have positively and successfully influenced its changing appearance. We fulfill one of the goals of the Association, which is to promote and inform the public about architectural and urban changes in Olomouc and the surrounding area, affecting the architectural, heritage, and urban values of the affected locations.

The award is named after a significant figure, the native of Olomouc Rudolf Eitelberger von Edelberg (April 17, 1817 — April 18, 1885), one of the initiating figures of modern art history and, among other things, the founder of the Museum of Applied Arts in Vienna (today Österreichisches Museum für angewandte Kunst). The first year of this award is conceived as retrospective, aiming to survey the period from 1990 to the present and emphasize the architectural, urban, or preservation changes that have suitably completed the image of the city.

We would be pleased if as many interested parties as possible, whether residents of Olomouc or those who care about its fate, participated in the discussion and proposal submissions. We believe that this activity of the Association, although it is somewhat symbolic in nature, will nevertheless help to intensify the discussion and reflection on the heritage and architectural values of our city.

You can send proposals and other suggestions to the address below; other contacts are also available to you. Awarded projects will be announced in early December based on both the quantity of "preference votes" for individual implementations and the selection of an expert jury, whose composition we will subsequently inform on the Association's website www.krasnaolomouc.cz.

Part of this call is also a proposal to award several projects, which is intended as a guiding reference. We would be grateful for your interest and additional suggestions that will assist the Association in its activities.
