Another Building of the Faculty of Architecture = Another System of Teaching Architecture
We assert that the building influences teaching and determines its final results. It also creates a micro-world in which both the student and the teacher transform and evolve. Whether for better or worse depends precisely on that building. If we want to develop as people and a community, we must be willing to constantly explore other paths, seek out different approaches, and have the ability to question ourselves. Our assignment was communication; we wanted to know in what environment students would like to learn architecture. How, by whom, with what goal, and also why. This discussion, whose outcome was to be an image of a material building, is now intended to serve you students, us educators, and all the other people moving here. It is not about confrontation, provocation, or criticism; it is about presenting alternatives to this building, to this system, with the aim of improving it. First, we searched for the idea of a school, which we then transformed into material architecture. As a starting point, we chose the place where the faculty currently stands, but students had the right to seek their own place. The building program arose from the idea of teaching the individual concepts presented here.
May the presented concepts prompt you to reflect.

Entering this studio was like stepping into another world. An artistic, individual, creative, free world. Sometimes even crazy and seemingly unrealistic, but in the passion and presentation of each individual work, convincing. I think this is also because this studio decided to address the basic considerations of the given topic honestly from the very beginning. This was also requested. As stated in the introduction “Question Yourself”. It is natural that the leading architects ask questions in the form of assignments somewhat to themselves as well. Since the duo Kraus-Čančík is new to the school, they posed their first question, their first assignment, quite clearly: “You too design an architecture school!” The students respond for themselves and thereby together give a message to us as well. Not only to architecture students, not only to architects, teachers, but also to society. Without us knowing that this is being discussed somewhere, we talked about it naturally while going through the projects and the school. The non-architectural society also asks the same questions. Where and how do we learn what we do. They try to comprehend us and our thinking ex post, because whether we want to or not, we influence the life of every individual.
Back to the point. Fresh and vibrant energy. Each project is based on a different, personal concept, thus requiring a specific presentation, a form that works within the whole, stands out, but does not selfishly shout. It does not shout even within the context into which each project enters, because some students chose their specific place/places. Most projects were genuinely good and sparked discussion. It is worth adding that there were more exceptional studios that shone at the school, but this one was different in some way. Congratulations.
