On Friday, November 26, 2021, the results of the 32nd edition of the international Piranesi Prize awarded by the Piranesi magazine were announced at the Monfort exhibition center in Portorož, Slovenia. The members of this year's jury were: Sandy Attia (chairwoman), Levente Szabó, Daniela Škarica, Ivana Žalac, Christian Ambos, Carles Enrich Gimenez, and Matija Bevk. A total of 54 projects from 11 Central European countries and 37 student projects from 19 Central European universities were nominated for this year's Piranesi Prize. All winners received a chair from the Slovenian furniture company Rez Kralj, and the main winner received a glass sculpture from Slovenian architect Ajda Racman. The student award was won by the Akvatorium RIsort project in Rijeka, Croatia, by students Matija Babić, Antonija Balić, Karla Jelić-Balta, Martin Mertz, Andro Mihalac, Fran Mikolić, and Luka Šen, led by professor Idis Turato at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Zagreb. International recognition was awarded to the renovation of the square in Ptuj by the Ljubljana studio Krušec and the pet crematorium in Drnov by the Prague studio Petr Hájek Architekti. The main award went to the Szent Gellért sports hall in Budapest by the local studio építész stúdió. The following five projects also made it to the shortlist: the headquarters of Lasvit in Nový Bor by ov-a architekti, a summer house on the Greek island of Salamis by the AREA studio, the lookout tower Devínska Kobyla by the Bratislava studio Šebo Lichý, and the Gelso refuge in the Italian province of Montevecchia by the A25architetti studio.
