Valašské Meziříčí - Valašské Meziříčí in the Vsetín region is announcing an architectural competition for the design of a new bus transportation terminal, a parking garage, and a city hall in the area of the former Křižanovy sawmill. The winner should be known by summer, said the city hall spokesman Jakub Mikuš today.

The city owns a plot of land in the area measuring 27,000 square meters. Since the end of 2020, there has been a conceptual study prepared by architects Miroslav Moll, Jiří Příhoda, and Soňa Stromšíková. "The study primarily addresses suitable urban planning solutions for the entire area. Now we want to obtain a comprehensive design for the individual facilities of the bus transportation terminal for 16 buses, including public transport stops in front of the station building, a parking garage with a capacity of at least 180 cars, and a new city hall for 130 employees, because the current one on Zašovská Street is already at the end of its lifespan. Therefore, in cooperation with CCEA MOBA, we are now announcing an open two-phase architectural competition for the mentioned buildings,” said mayor Robert Stržínek (ANO).

The city hall has so far mainly prepared the transportation connection of the area to the road in Palackého Street. "Since last year, we have also completed a traffic study addressing the entire area. Its completion was preceded by demanding negotiations with the relevant authorities and institutions, such as the traffic police, the Zlín Regional Directorate of Roads, and others. In the end, we managed to find a suitable solution, particularly in the form of a roundabout with sufficient capacity for the needs of the transportation terminal and the entire new area,” said deputy mayor Petr Nachtmann (ODS).

Proposals in the competition for the design of the buildings at Křižanovy sawmill will be evaluated by a jury composed of experts from the Czech Chamber of Architects and representatives of the city. "Our goal is to obtain a quality solution for the city properties in the area of the former Křižanovy sawmill that not only fits well into the locality but also meets our requirements for the transportation terminal, parking garage, and city hall, which will also complement the planned Alley of Emilie and Jan Křižan. Currently, we are estimating a very preliminary total amount exceeding 700 million crowns. After the completion of the project work, we will strive to obtain suitable grants for the individual constructions," said the mayor.

The construction will be divided into phases. There is also capacity for two five-story city apartment buildings.
