On Wednesday, September 25, 2019, it will be possible to meet with architect Zvi Hecker during an informal evening designed not only for architecture enthusiasts in the villa's premises.

Visitors to Winternitz Villa, which was built in 1932 according to a design by Adolf Loos, have the opportunity until October 6, 2019, to view a small presentation by Israeli architect Zvi Hecker entitled "Neumeister House. Zvi Hecker". It provides a unique insight into the intimate process of the architect's way of searching for function and form, showing us how Hecker's unique objects are created. The exhibition curators are Tadeáš Goryczka and Jaroslav Němec from the Cabinet of Architecture.
The exhibition features drawings and sketches made by architect Zvi Hecker in 2017-18 for "Neumeister House", located in Monte Fumo, Itri, between Naples and Rome. It represents a quiet dialogue between two family houses designed at different times and in different locations. The proposed building will contain three bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen, and a dining room. Its main spiral wall will be composed of local, often already used materials. It will be formed by a distinctive mix of stone, concrete, and bamboo rods so that the boundary between the newly created work of the architect and its surroundings is almost imperceptible.
"Basically, there are two types of architecture. Architecture as a monument that you can walk around, and then architecture that surrounds you – that is a house. You could say that my overall approach is to place the person in the center and the mass around them. If you look at some of my works, for example, the Heinz-Galinski-Schule in Berlin, you'll find that this building cannot actually be walked around. You can only enter it. It functions as a small city, and I always try to design buildings that are also a kind of small city." During his last visit to the Czech Republic, Zvi Hecker shared his perspective on architecture. The extraordinary work of Zvi Hecker, an architect and artist from Krakow, who now alternately lives in Berlin and Tel Aviv, is fundamentally defined by geometry and metaphor. Among the metaphors that the architect most often used are the sunflower and the metaphor of the book, one of the symbols of Judaism.
"The connection between architecture and Jewish themes resonates very well with the Winternitz Villa, an architecturally significant building commissioned by a lawyer of Jewish origin. Among other reasons, we are very pleased that we can present the work of the prominent Israeli architect Zvi Hecker in the villa." says David Cysař, director of Winternitz Villa.
The exhibition is held under the auspices of the mayor of the Municipal District P5 - RNDr. Daniel Mazur Ph.D. and the councilor for culture of the City of Prague MgA. Hana Třeštíková.
