The architectural studio OFIS was founded in 1996 by Rok Oman (1970) and Špela Videčnik (1971), graduates of the Faculty of Architecture at the University of Ljubljana (1998 and 1997 respectively) and the prestigious Architectural Association School of Architecture in London (MA, January 2000). As early as 1998, they won several architectural competitions, including for the construction of a football stadium in Maribor and the City Museum in Ljubljana. Many of their projects have been nominated for the European Prize for Contemporary Architecture, the Mies van der Rohe Award, in 2009 they received the IOC/IAKS Silver Medal for the football stadium project, in 2006 they were awarded the European Grand Prix for Innovation Award, in 2005 their Villa with a raised base received an honorable mention at the Biennale in Miami, in 2004 they were recognized at the AR+D Awards, organized by the British magazine Architectural Review, for the renovation and expansion of the City Museum, and in 2000 they were awarded the prestigious title “Young Architect of the Year” in London.
