A new port designed by architects fasch&fuchs has been opened in the Austrian capital on the adjacent arm of the Danube. The 127-meter-long elegant steel structure, however, does not serve passengers wishing to take a 75-minute boat ride to Bratislava, but also hosts exhibitions, social events, a café, a restaurant, and above all, a rooftop terrace with a panoramic view of the entire canal. The architectural duo hopes that their creation will become a new tourist attraction that will contribute "to the enhancement of urban environments in the center of Vienna". Their harbor pier hovers between the Swedish and Marian bridges. Pedestrians can freely enjoy the new structure during their walks, distancing themselves from the bustle present on both sides of the embankment. The dock has thus become a bridge between two existing bridges, offering a covered promenade. However, the main purpose of the structure remains a boarding platform for passengers of the high-speed catamarans "Twin-City Liner".
