London - The theaters in the famous West End area have a critical shortage of women's restrooms - there is one restroom for every 38 female visitors. This is according to a survey by The Stage magazine, which focuses on the entertainment industry, as reported by the Independent.

The relevant regulations, according to the website, state that there should be an average of at least 36 women's restrooms per theater. In reality, however, there are only 21, which is 40 percent less than needed.

The survey also showed that if all the women in the audience were to use the restroom during the intermission in one of the West End theaters, the average break would need to last approximately an hour. However, breaks typically last 20 minutes.

Theater critic Natasha Tripney reacted to the survey results on Twitter, stating that the lack of women's restrooms may not only be an inconvenience but could also deter some women from attending the theater. "If a woman is pregnant, on her period, or has some health issues, these things matter," she added. Other commentators ironically noted that queues at women’s restrooms are a common phenomenon, and no survey on this topic was necessary.
