Letohrad plans to renovate the area of Nový dvůr, where there are currently dusty walkways

Letohrad - The town of Letohrad in the Orlickoústecko region plans to renovate the area near Nový dvůr, which houses the Museum of Crafts. Currently, there are dusty sidewalks and old asphalt. The place could become a space for community gatherings and cultural events. This was stated by Deputy Mayor Martin Hatka (Association for Letohrad).

"All residents living in the historic part of the town walk through Nový dvůr to the post office, the healthcare center, and the reconstructed cultural house. Residents from the housing estate walk to the historic part. Nový dvůr is on a connector, but its appearance does not meet today’s requirements for public space," said Hatka.

The town has a study that will be presented to the public on March 17. According to Hatka, it is important for people to share their opinions. "It mainly involves landscaping, adding furniture, benches, and there used to be three historic wells, so we plan to add three water features. We’ll try to discuss with the citizens what the community demand is, and then we will prepare the project documentation," the Deputy Mayor stated.

In the area, there are also company buildings alongside the museum. If some buildings were to be for sale in the future, the town should consider purchasing them to have the opportunity to influence what will be there, Hatka mentioned.

The architectural study has been prepared in several versions, with one considering a larger green area. The second option includes more parking spaces.

"Part of the area is asphalted, but mainly the central part consists of dusty paths. The comfort is poor. We don’t want it to be a transit area. We would like to organize various events there," said Hatka.

During the current electoral term, the town will likely prepare the project documentation, and it will be up to the next political representation to decide how to proceed with it. "We want to be prepared for grants and have cost estimations for the investment project. It’s a matter of two years; it’s not immediately on the agenda," added the Deputy Mayor.
