vora arquitectura

Paüls is a picturesque mountain village with six hundred inhabitants. The village is located approximately one hundred kilometers south of Tarragona. In 2014, a gray medical practice building was added to the densely populated area on steep southeast slopes, designed by the Barcelona studio vora arquitectura led by architects Pere Buil and Toni Riba. With its shape and gray plaster, the building perfectly blends in with the surrounding architecture. From the street, the building presents itself as a single-story gray block with a low gabled roof and a pair of openings (double-leaf entrance doors and a French window into the practice). Despite its closed appearance, the symmetrically arranged layout is bright and clear. Upon entering the building, a panoramic view of the surrounding mountains is available from the waiting room. On the entrance floor, in addition to the waiting room, there are also two consultation rooms. In the lowered lower floor below street level, accessible by an elevator as well as by stairs, there are relaxation rooms where patients should feel "warm and safe," while the upper floors with consultation rooms are meant to feel "bright and light."
