Brno - Brno-Slatina will receive a new cultural hall for 292 million crowns. After several years of preparations, the Brno councilors approved the procurement procedure for the construction contractor at their last meeting. The building will offer a multifunctional hall and a café, Tadeáš Mima from the press department of the Brno City Hall told ČTK. According to him, construction work could start this autumn and last approximately two years.

"We have an old cultural house. It was no longer possible to make it more capacious, resolve parking, or offer the services we need," said the mayor of Slatina, Jiří Ides (independent, formerly SOCDEM), to ČTK. According to him, the construction represents one of the largest investments in the transformation of the district in modern history.

Preparations for the construction of the new hall began about ten years ago, and the district secured the project documentation and construction permit. "We are starting to fulfill what the people from the district want, so that Slatina can have an appropriate cultural venue, allowing us to organize various events. At the same time, the Jiří Mahen Library will move into accessible spaces there," Ides said.

In the new building, according to Mima, there will also be clubs for children's leisure activities, small administrative facilities, and technical and sanitary facilities. Parking spaces around the hall will be both above ground and underground.
