The book launch and exhibition opening will take place on Thursday, August 6, 2020, at 7:00 PM at the Schokolo gallery, Bořivojova 77, Prague 3.
15 years of traveling for 20th-century architecture around the world has formed the basis of the book Modern Architecture and Interiors, which Adam Štěch publishes with the German publisher Prestel. With graphic design by Matěj Činčera and Jan Kloss, this publication is another of the comprehensive projects by the Okolo group. In nearly 900 pages, the author presents various examples of modern architecture from almost 30 countries worldwide, which Adam Štěch visited and documented himself. The dictionary format of the book showcases hundreds of renowned and lesser-known creators and their distinctive works, documenting the diversity of architecture and interior design of the last century, from Art Nouveau, Cubism, and Expressionism to Functionalism, organic architecture, Brutalism, high-tech, and other experiments of the post-war era.
At the Schokolo gallery, the book will be presented officially for the very first time as part of a minimalist spatial installation. Visitors will have the opportunity to purchase a signed copy by the author before its official release, which was delayed due to the spring epidemiological crisis.
