Olomouc - The army has already disposed of all large military complexes in Olomouc. After the complex near Baumax, the listed historical building of the old town barracks on Studentská Street has also found its owner. This was reported today by the regional newspaper Olomoucký deník.
From the ten-hectare military area at Baumax, which is to be cleared by the end of June, the Excalibur company is currently removing dozens of tanks and military vehicles to the repair enterprise in Šternberk, which will become the owner of the entire area. "We were waiting to see if any state organization would respond; otherwise, we would have announced a tender. In the end, the commission decided to allocate the land to the state enterprise in Šternberk," said Antonín Lajbner from the Military Construction and Accommodation Administration. "The army has thus disposed of the last large complex in Olomouc," Lajbner added.
The tender for the sale of the old town barracks building on Studentská Street has also concluded. Last December, the Ministry of Defense announced the third round and set the minimum purchase price at 26.5 million crowns. The winner was the interested party that offered a slightly higher amount. However, to date, they still have not provided the documents needed to finalize the purchase agreement. If the interested party does not respond, the army will likely cancel the tender and announce a new one. The barracks are a non-residential space located in the city's protected heritage zone. Interested parties will therefore have to consider significant construction restrictions at this site.
