Brno – Light installations, a music program, and video mapping on the façade today attracted dozens of people to the gardens of the Brno villas Tugendhat, Löw-Beer, and Arnold's. The event called Light Up Tugendhat is the culmination of the celebrations for the 25th anniversary of the villa Tugendhat's inscription as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and will last until midnight on Sunday. The cafes in all three gardens will also have extended opening hours, said Petr Dvořák, spokesperson for the villa Tugendhat, to ČTK.

"The video mapping will last until midnight, which is why we will have extended opening hours for both our Café Garáž and Cecilie café in the Arnold villa and Café Löw-Beer in the garden of the same-named villa," Dvořák stated.

The all-day program in all three gardens starts every day at 10:00 and includes workshops, lectures, and demonstrations of indigo dyeing. Each garden has two concerts scheduled daily as part of the music festival Maraton hudby. Concerts at the Tugendhat villa start daily at 15:00 and 18:00, at the Arnold villa at 16:00 and 19:00, and at the Löw-Beer villa at 17:00 and 20:00. From 21:00, video mapping begins on the façades of the villas, which will be repeated in loops until midnight.

"The projection at the Tugendhat villa will last seven minutes and will be repeated four times every hour. The lengths and themes vary among the individual villas, and everything is organized so that people can enjoy the video mapping on all three monuments in peace," Dvořák added.

The functionalist villa, which was built at the end of the 1920s by textile entrepreneur Fritz Tugendhat, is on the UNESCO cultural heritage list. The villa was inscribed in 2001 as the eleventh Czech monument. The house, designed by architect Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, began construction in June 1929. It is often referred to as a building that set new standards for modern living and is considered one of the fundamental works of modern architecture worldwide.
