Prague - The Bílkova villa on Mickiewiczova Street in Prague is being renovated. It will be closed to visitors for approximately two years. After the reconstruction, a study center for František Bílek and his exhibition will be opened there. Irena Tyslová from the Gallery of the Capital City of Prague informed ČTK.

The furniture that visitors could admire in the villa will be displayed in the greenhouse of the Troja Chateau. It was recently opened after the repairs from the damage caused by the floods.
The villa, built in 1911, has survived to the present day mainly in its original condition. A few years ago, the copper roof covering was restored and insulation was added. The attic underwent reconstruction, and the boiler room was modernized.
The building requires remediation and repairs to individual architectural parts and elements. It is also necessary to repair the electrical systems, air conditioning, and ventilation. The garden will also be renovated.
The villa with the studio was built according to the design of sculptor František Bílek (1872 to 1941), one of the most prominent representatives of the expressive approach to Art Nouveau symbolism. The building has belonged to the Gallery of the Capital City of Prague since 1963.
