Boskovice

Boskovice - The leadership of Boskovice in the Blansko region already has a study available that addresses the solution for the Červená zahrada sports complex, developed in three variants. New sports facilities and primarily a sports hall should be created. The costs are expected to be around 200 to 300 million crowns. The city council presented the study to the journalists today.

The study was to address the inadequate transport connections of the area, the lack of parking spaces, the missing athletic track, and the location of new sports facilities and the sports hall, which does not exist in Boskovice. "Each variant includes a new connection from Dukelská Street, a significant increase in parking spaces, expansion of service roads, and a new network of sidewalks," described the study the mayor of the city, Hana Nedomová (ČSSD). All variants also propose the demolition of the old mill located in the area and the relocation of the transformer station.

Variant A includes the relocation of tennis courts, a new location for a grass field including facilities with stands, in addition to the sports hall, a skatepark, climbing wall, and an inline track. Variant A proposes over 400 parking spaces, all at a cost of 196 million crowns.

Variants B and C also propose adjustments to the entrance facility of the swimming pool; in the case of B, an expansion of the accommodation facility is included. This variant accounts for approximately 400 parking spaces, with an investment of 290 million crowns. Variant C concerns about 350 parking spaces, with a total investment amounting to 205 million crowns.

"Each variant has its pros and cons. We will present the study to the city council at the December meeting. We will subsequently discuss the individual variants with sports clubs, citizens, and in committees during the city council," said the mayor. She added that the budget for 2017 could already contain an item to start the entire project.

Some time ago, the city hall purchased land in the Červená zahrada area, where they want to build the sports complex. The facility was originally planned to be built on the other side of the city on Slovákova Street. However, part of the public protested against it.

Boskovice has 11,500 residents. There is a lack of a hall. Athletes, especially volleyball and floorball players, have to travel to other cities for matches.
