Boskovice (Blanensko) - Boskovice is expected to have a modern sports hall by the end of 2014. The construction of it has been planned for years. The town hall has postponed the project due to a lack of funds. It is expected that the hall will cost 57 million crowns. The city's spokesman, Jaroslav Parma, said this today. The councilors have already approved the announcement of a tender for the construction supplier.

"The chosen supplier should be selected so that construction can start in the middle of next year," the spokesman stated. The councilors anticipate that they will be able to significantly reduce the price during the tender process. This is usually successful in such projects, even by as much as a fifth. The city has not secured any grants for this plan. Therefore, it will pay for the construction of the hall from its own funds.
Boskovice has 14,000 inhabitants. The town is lacking a hall. In the autumn and winter, athletes have to travel for training and matches to nearby Letovice and Jaroměřice, which are half the size.
The new hall will be used, for example, by volleyball players, basketball players, floorball players, and futsal players. It is to be built according to parameters that will allow matches to be held in these sports. There are also plans for the construction of a grandstand. The original project for the construction of the sports hall was created as early as 2007. Since then, it has been revised to lower its cost.
