Boskovice (Blanensko) - A part of the residents of Boskovice in Blanensko disagrees with the planned construction of a sports hall at the primary school on Slovákova street. They believe that the building, costing 50 million crowns, should be located elsewhere. However, the town hall disagrees with their objections and intends to continue with the project. "The Department of Urban Development of the town hall has concluded that the citizens' objections are unfounded," Jaroslav Dohnálek said today to ČTK, adding that residents will still be able to voice their concerns during the building permit process. The project for the construction of the sports hall is still only on paper. The plans took nearly a year to develop. Construction of the facility, which should be used by schoolchildren in the morning and sports teams in the afternoon, is planned once the town hall is able to secure funding for it. Dohnálek added that there has long been a lack of a quality large gymnasium in Boskovice. Dissatisfied citizens have drafted a petition, which has so far been signed by over 100 people. They argue, for example, that the space for the construction of the hall is too small, there is a lack of sufficient parking spaces in the area, and the project will allegedly increase noise levels and reduce the quality of living in the entire area. Officials reject these claims, stating that various studies were carried out regarding the project, which indicate that no risks are posed.
