Brno - One of the largest construction companies in the Czech Republic, Brno-based OHL ŽS, has made several changes to its management since September 1. Petr Brzezina has become the first vice-chairman of the board of directors and the general director. Tomáš Ženatý has been newly appointed as the financial director and the second vice-chairman of the board, while Tomáš Nossek will lead the sales and technical department. The company announced this in a press release. It aims to increase its competitiveness, having recorded a loss of over half a billion crowns last year.

"The mentioned changes are in line with the initiated renewal of the organizational structure that OHL ŽS is undergoing, and which aims to increase efficiency and competitiveness. Building a new team is part of this transformation,"
stated OHL ŽS General Director Petr Brzezina regarding the personnel changes.

Ženatý previously held managerial positions in companies like KPMG Czech Republic, Teplárny Brno, a.s., and Holderbank ČR. In 1991, he graduated from the Faculty of Economics at the University of Economics, Prague, and in 2007 completed a Senior Executive program at Nottingham Trent University. In his position as financial director, he replaces Paolo Bee, who will continue to work with the company in an external capacity.

Tomáš Nossek, who currently serves as the executive director of the Czech Republic operation at OHL ŽS, replaces Jan Komárek as commercial and technical director. Nossek has been with OHL ŽS in various positions since 1998.

Last year, Brno-based construction company OHL ŽS recorded a record loss of 585.3 million crowns despite growing revenues. According to the company's management, the loss is still related to the crisis in the construction sector. The company is scaling back its activities abroad, notably in Russia. It has incurred losses for two consecutive years and aims to return to profitability this year.

OHL ŽS is among the five largest domestic construction companies. During the crisis in Czech construction, it has sought to establish a greater presence in foreign markets. It has contracts in Central Europe and the Balkans, and had ambitious plans for a project in Russia beyond the Ural Mountains. The investment for the railway construction ultimately did not materialize.
