The Brno school will have a new playground on the roof, the reconstruction will cost 69 million CZK

Brno - The Brno-střed district will complete the reconstruction of Antonínská Primary School at the beginning of the year for 69 million crowns, and is also preparing to insulate other school buildings. This was stated to reporters today by the deputy mayor of the district, Martin Vrubel (KDU-ČSL).

"The main part of the school's modifications consisted of the construction of a new gymnasium and new modern specialized classrooms. These spaces will be accessible to students from the second semester of the current school year. In spring 2023, the outdoor playground located on the roof of the gym will be completed, along with relaxation zones on the roofs of classrooms. At the same time, the new spaces will be barrier-free," said Vrubel.

The reconstruction of Antonínská Primary School began in 2021 with the demolition of the old gym in the courtyard and the removal of a playground that was in a state of disrepair. The relaxation zone on the roof of the classrooms will essentially be a rooftop garden.

In addition to the completion of this extensive project, the district plans to continue reducing the energy demands of school buildings. "In 2023, we plan to insulate the building of the Úvoz kindergarten and renovate the kitchen in the Úvoz school cafeteria as well as the meal distribution point at Hroznová Primary School. At the last moment, we managed to secure funding for the insulation of Tučkova Kindergarten as well. Furthermore, fortunately, we obtained funds to address a long-term issue - the emergency condition of the cornice and facade of the primary school building on Rašínova Street, which is under our Husova Primary School," added Vrubel.
