Brno - Brno plans to reconstruct Údolní Street in the section from Husova to Úvoz. This year, the documentation for the zoning decision could be completed. The reconstruction could start as early as 2021-2022, said Anna Dudková from the press department of the city hall. The work is expected to cost around 200 million crowns, roughly the same as the reconstruction of the first section from Úvoz to Kraví Hora, which was completed last year. The reconstruction will affect the roadway, tram tracks, as well as public spaces, stops, and greenery. A bike path will also be created.

The city has been preparing the reconstruction of the entire street for some time due to its poor condition. "During this reconstruction, we will repair nearly 800 meters of the tram track, which will include the modification of the Údolní and Úvoz stops. In addition, we will build cycling paths that will differ in color from the granite areas for pedestrians and from the spaces at the stops," said Brno councilor Filip Chvátal.

According to Deputy Mayor Petra Hladík (KDU-ČSL), the city will plant new trees and adjust the old ones. "We will also add water features to the area under Špilberk and improve it for the relaxation of visitors. When modifying public lighting, we will use LED fixtures, which will significantly reduce electricity consumption," Hladík stated. The number of asphalt surfaces will also be reduced, as the city will replace them with tiles. "Thanks to them, rainwater will not unnecessarily flow into the sewer, but will seep into the ground," Hladík added.

In recent years, Brno has reconstructed several streets for hundreds of millions, such as Milady Horákové, Horova, and Minská.
