Prague – The cultural station of Czech Television, ČT art, will present cycles about post-war architecture, prominent female musicians, and the thirty-year existence of the Dejvice Theatre this autumn. Art is celebrating its tenth anniversary since the start of broadcasting this year. Viewers can also look forward to the premiere of the documentary about the history of the Barrandov studios, Magical Hill, or a live broadcast of the theater comedy Everyone Has Their Truth from the Dejvice Theatre. This was announced by representatives of Czech Television at a press conference.
The celebrations for the station's tenth birthday will last for ten days. They will begin with a broadcast of a concert featuring artists such as David Koller, PSH, Dagmar Pecková, Adam Plachetka, Štefan Margita, Kamil Střihavka, and Lenka Dusilová. The feature-length documentary Magical Hill illustrates the ninety-year history of the Barrandov studios through the fates of significant creators who worked there. The film also provides a perspective on the history of Czech cinematography.
Another new series, Architecture 58-89, documents a significant period in the history of Czechoslovak architecture. The eight-part series directed by Jan Zajíček, based on a concept by Vladimír 518, seeks to examine this era comprehensively, without ideological prejudices. The series will focus on buildings constructed during this period, as well as their concepts and their relationship to the regime and its demands.
