Veselí nad Moravou – In Veselí nad Moravou in the Hodonín region, workers are currently finalizing the last adjustments to Peace Square. Construction work costing tens of millions of crowns is expected to finish during the summer holidays. Concerts and other events, which are part of the celebrations of the 770th anniversary of the first seal mention of the town, are set to take place on the renovated square in August and September, the town hall spokesperson Olga Svoják announced in a press release today.

"The revitalization of Peace Square is one of the largest projects that our town has implemented in recent years. The first construction works began 15 years ago, and today we are on the verge of completion. I believe that the new center will be a dignified place for the everyday life of residents, meeting, and hosting cultural and social events," said Veselí nad Moravou Mayor Petr Kolář (TOP 09).

The adjustments to the square had several phases. The final phase focuses on the surroundings of the new multifunctional building, the post office, and the Rozkvět hotel. Workers are finishing new sidewalks, parking spaces, rest areas, and work on the piazza, which, according to the town hall, will serve for meetings between residents and visitors to the town. The adjustments also include underground containers, new public lighting, and other elements of modern urban infrastructure, Svoják stated.

The last phase was preceded by the relocation of most engineering networks. The construction work also includes a private investment in the construction of a multifunctional building with 70 apartments, commercial spaces on the ground floor, and underground garages.
