The second weekend of November will belong to passive houses, not only in the Czech Republic but worldwide. The International Passive House Days open the doors of passive houses in Lednice, Hlinsko, Sedlcany, Prague, and Brno, but also in Shanghai, Dresden, and New York's Brooklyn. In all corners of the world, over the next three days, you will learn what life is like in an energy-efficient house firsthand.
Over the weekend of November 9 – 11, 2012, more than forty houses meeting the passive standard will open in the Czech Republic. Among them will be, for example, the first passive administrative building in Ostrava, the first energy-neutral house in the Czech Republic, or the first passive wooden building that received the SBtoolCZ certificate. In Hostětín, the first Czech public building meeting the passive standard will also be opened. All of these and many other houses can be found in the database.
The coordination of Passive House Days in Slovakia is handled by the Institute for Energy Passive Houses, which currently registers over twenty open objects. Visitors will be able to view, for example, the type-mounted passive house EcoCube or the first passive house in Slovakia, certified by PHI in 2010.
Open passive houses from around the world are then listed in the international database of passive houses or on the pages of the International Passive House Association. Among the registered 642 houses, you will find interesting projects ranging from schools to a church in Hamburg or an exhibition hall in Shanghai, all functioning in passive energy standard. Of course, Germany offers the most accessible passive houses, but Austria is not far behind either.
