Unique stories, interesting inhabitants, different dimensions, interiors known only to tenants and their guests until now. Everyone now has the chance to discover the different faces of the houses and apartments in Poznań and Brno - in the films and meetings of the DOMOKRĄŻCY Poznań-Brno series.
Brno and Poznań share one thing in common – trade fairs. However, the architecture of the Brno complex has been much more deeply rooted in modernism from the very beginning. Just like the local pre-war villas and residential buildings, which we invite you to explore as part of “Podomníků,” crossing the Polish border for the first time. What do Czech modernist apartments look like? How do their tenants treat them? What stories are associated with the spaces they inhabit? It's true that we didn't film the interiors of the Tugendhat villa, but there is still plenty to see! As part of an international project, you will have the opportunity to compare a Brno and a Poznań villa from the interwar period and two apartments – a Czech one from before the war and a Polish one from the early decades of the People's Republic of Poland. Let's get to know our neighbors on the 55th anniversary of the signing of the partnership agreement between Poznań and Brno.
The project is an attempt to document the ways of contemporary living and thinking about the home, its history, and its future. DOMOKRĄŻCY showcases both places with a rich history and those that are just beginning to accumulate interesting stories. The films shot in private houses and apartments show furniture inherited over generations, items collected or saved from being thrown away, as well as the universal design of a Swedish chain.
The residents themselves narrate everything, inviting the viewer not only into the living room or kitchen but also into bedrooms, bathrooms, or studios. The stories of the hosts and their openness make DOMOKRĄŻCY not a polished magazine report on interior design, but rather a pleasant and informal visit that can be attended not just by enthusiasts of architecture and interiors, but – simply – by anyone.
