Prague - The company ECM has obtained a building permit for another structure that is to be constructed in the Pankrác Plain in Prague. The media representative of the company, Markéta Finnová, informed ČTK about this. The building named City Court is expected to be 36 meters high and will primarily contain offices. ECM previously acquired a zoning decision for a 104-meter tall V-shaped building with luxury apartments as well as for a 75-meter tall oval hotel.

The administrative building with a rectangular floor plan will have three underground and eight above-ground floors. It will offer 13,341 square meters of office space, 555 square meters of storage, and an additional 1,000 square meters that can be used as either retail spaces or offices. According to Finnová, the underground floors will include technical rooms, storage areas, and garages, while the ground floor will feature a conference hall. On the second floor of the building, ECM plans to establish a restaurant, above which an atrium will be created.
The architect for the entire City project, including this building, is American architect Richard Meier, who believes that a new center should emerge in Pankrác. Some associations have long been fighting against this project, claiming that it is possible for the Prague Heritage Reservation to be listed as a site at risk due to skyscrapers in Pankrác.
In 2007, UNESCO expressed "serious concern" regarding the planned construction of high-rise buildings in Pankrác. The Pankrác Plain is within the protective zone of the heritage reservation. However, the removal of Prague from the list of World Heritage sites does not currently seem to be at risk.
Where high-rise buildings will rise in Prague in the future will be influenced by the preservation plan for the heritage reservation, which will include a methodology for the construction of high-rise buildings in Prague. The plan is being prepared by the city hall. The assessment of the building will be determined by the view from approximately 36 locations in Prague, taking into consideration the entire relief of the metropolis.
