On Tuesday, June 21, 2011, a unique housing concept called Freedomky, created by a Czech architect, was presented in Romanshorn, Switzerland for the German, Swiss, and Austrian markets. In the presence of journalists and interested parties from both professional and lay circles, it was introduced by distributor representative Mr. Rolland Lapp, Swiss architect with Czech roots Jura Oplatek, and author Marek Jan Štěpán. The local newspaper most aptly commented on it in the headline "Klein, fein und ökologisch".
The Freedomky was originally designed as a realization of the dream of Brno jeweler Jiří Brosche for comfortable living "without bills". Due to the surprisingly large response following its presentation at the Prague Architecture Week 2010, production of the Freedomky began, resulting in more and more units being made. Eight months after the presentation of Freedomky No. 001 at Wenceslas Square, it was developmentally modified for the foreign market and received the designation Swiss Standard. Initial reactions predict success for this Czech product in foreign markets as well.
