Bílovec - The chapel of Saint Martin in Nové Dvory in Bílovec, in the Nový Jičín region, is set for reconstruction costing approximately 730,000 crowns. The work will be done in two phases; during the first phase, which will start this spring, the roof along with the trusses will be repaired, and the walls will be reinforced. This was announced today by the spokesperson for the Bílovec town hall, Šárka Seidlerová.

From May to November, Sunday masses are held monthly in the chapel. "The chapel in Nové Dvory urgently needed repair; currently, it is in very bad technical condition,” stated the mayor of Bílovec, Pavel Mrva (ČSSD).

During the reconstruction, the chapel will be structurally secured, and craftsmen will remove unsuitable cement plasters from the interior. "New windows, flooring, and more will be added. The second phase of the reconstruction will take place in 2018," added Seidlerová.

Marie Seligová, who has been responsible for cleaning and decorating the chapel for six years, indicated that in recent years, the faithful have not been able to use the bell tower, which is in a dilapidated state. "We miss it; once we would regularly ring the bell to call people to mass or when someone died. We look forward to the chapel being repaired. There are just over twenty of us living here, but when there is a mass or pilgrimage for Saint Martin, to whom our chapel is dedicated, it becomes completely full, with citizens from neighboring villages - Lukavec, Bravinné - also coming," Seligová stated.

The majority of the costs for the reconstruction will be covered by the city of Bílovec. The Czech-German Future Fund and the partner city of Bad Neustadt will also contribute.
