Bílovec (Novojičínsko) - Visitors to Bílovec no longer have to fear that they will not find a place to park while exploring the city's landmarks or seeking good food. Thanks to grants from the state and the European Union, the town hall has built four new parking lots, significantly improving transportation accessibility to the center. The new parking system has also effectively utilized unused spaces in the middle of the town's heritage zone, said Bílovec's mayor Sylva Kováčiková to ČTK today.
"The main goal of the new parking lots is to regulate parking, thereby creating conditions to improve the accessibility of objects important for tourism," Kováčiková specified. The city has built over 90 parking spaces across four locations, covering a total area of 2460 square meters. For the construction, the city council received grants from European funds as well as the state budget, with the state and EU contributing nearly five million crowns together. The city added more than 1.5 million crowns. Among the most sought-after tourist attractions in Bílovec are the still inaccessible Renaissance castle, the town hall complex with interesting architecture and history, the Chapel of Saint Barbara from 1465, the municipal cemetery with three historical tombstones, and the Church of Saint Nicholas. The city's history is briefly presented at the municipal museum, which people can visit directly in the square. Moravian-Silesian companies, municipalities, and organizations can also take advantage of additional EU grants to support tourism. This year, the EU and the region will distribute a total of 389 million crowns in grants for the best projects supporting business development, regional promotion, and improving services for tourists.
