Kolín has a new aquapark, it will open to the public in November

Kolín - The Kolín Town Hall today opened the new aquapark Water World. It was created by renovating the former indoor swimming complex. The first visitors will be welcomed after necessary technical tests at the beginning of November, said Miroslav Ledvina, the director of the municipal technical services, which are the investors of the construction.
    The total costs for the renovation of the swimming complex exceeded 185 million crowns. The city will pay for it using a loan from the contractor, which will be paid off over ten years. Councilor Ondřej Plašil reminded that the new sports complex in Kolín was built without subsidies from the state or the European Union. According to him, the city, which has experienced significant industrial development in recent years, especially in connection with the TPCA car factory, wants to offer residents corresponding leisure activities.
    The Kolín swimming complex was built 30 years ago and urgently needed modernization. It included a fifty-meter outdoor pool, a twenty-five-meter indoor pool with a seven-meter diving tower, two steam baths, a children's pool, and a sauna. A few years ago, the city had a slide built there.
    Water attractions in the new complex have increased. In addition to a 76-meter long slide, there is a new three-lane slide, whirlpools, a children's paddling pool, and a wave pool. The entire complex is barrier-free. There are also commercial service operations, such as massage or pedicure, a salt cave, a confectionery, and a restaurant. New are also the sauna, changing rooms, and entrance hall.
    According to Ledvina, the outdoor pool should also be renovated. "We don't want any attractions there, just to restore the tiling and install new water distribution," he added.
    Modern aquaparks exist in Central Bohemia, for example, in the towns of Kladno, Slaný, and Příbram, and one is under construction in Beroun. An outdoor complex with water attractions was also opened last year in Kutná Hora.
